Falcon Big Fish Photo Gallery These
are some of the larger fish of all species caught or shot during the last decade.
We have restricted this gallery's pictures
to mostly fish over 10 lbs. taken from Falcon or the river above or below Falcon.
Please note, Do not bring any fish you have killed or intend to kill to Falcon
Lake Tackle for weighing, pictures or press
releases. We
strongly believe in catch and release and we do not believe in
killing the big fish of Falcon when replicas are so realistic
and serve just as well to document the moment and also preserve future production
of fish with big bass genes. Also, Big Bass are NOT a very good eating fish.
Many fishermen and women from all walks of life are featured in this gallery.

caught her share of Big Bass at Falcon _____________________________________The
largest Bass ever weighed in the O.P.E.C.
Legacy Tournament and the largest bass
caught in any Falcon Tournament since 2001 until Oct 2005 when a 12.90 LB
FISH WAS WEIGHED by Tommy Aguilar, Jr NEW
RECORD OPEC _____________________________________
The
largest bass (9.97 lbs) weighed in a
major tournament since OPEC in 2001 Raulsten and Edwards are frequent
tournament contenders and winners.

Hammer
used live bait to catch this TPW Certified Record. He has the lake
record for yellow and blue cats. _______________________________________These
2 fish below were taken during pre-fishing. Ed caught his 10.48 lber as guest
fishing
SWRI club tournament. __________________

had a great spawn last year and the spawn this year (2004) is even better!"

Garza has caught some huge catfish However, none have been submitted to
TPW for certification.
_______________________________________________________________________ Greg's
26 Lb Blue was caught on a Red Bug Brush Hog off hardwood while fishing for
bass. Two days later, Marvin Hendrix, another Lakefront resident caught a
similar fish of a similar
size on the same type bait ______________________________________________________________________________________
Tinker's & Kirk's Bass
from River below Falcon The
Rio Grande River below Falcon Dam has produced huge bass this year to 11 lbs and
over. Pabolo Gomez (below left) has fished the river area nearly every week. While
not an area where fish are caught every day, it is frequently a great fishery.
Senkos, centepides and spinnerbaits are all good river bass producers.
Sour
Grape is one of the better river colors. There are multiple locations where boats
can be launched. Many
of the larger fish taken during 2003 and in 2004 as well have been caught during
tournament pre-fishing such as the 10.7 by Charles Bethany above and Ron Wicker's
10.2 below. Ron Ricketts 10 lb bass was also caught pre-fishing for
a tournament. The
good news is that all three were released alive to fight again. The bad news,
none of these anglers won their tournaments. The more knowledgable anglers are,
for the most part, avid catch and release sportsmen. They ask themselves, "Why
kill these big fish when replicas are now so life-like you cannot tell them from
a skin-mount? Caught
pre-fishing for OPEC- Can anybody guess where? This
bass with a 13 lb head and 10 lb body had already spawned out lending credibility
to history of Falcon's early spawning bass. This bass took a Norman Gel Deep

.................................................................................................Charles
Ormand 12/21/04 11.2 lbs Luke
Cavanaugh (SWRI Bass Busters) caught this big 10 pound plus bass in the same
tournament as Jerry Ramos's and with it he won Club Heavy stringer with 43
lbs beating Ramos's 41 lb stringer anchored by the above 14.28 lb fish. Both
these fish came out of the lower lake area on the US side. Jerry's fish was
caught in State Park Cove on a Zoom Watermelon Red Brushhog he had purchased
at Falcon Lake Tackle. The fish was stabilized in the Falcon Lake Tackle
live release tank and was submitted to
Texas Share-Lunker. A replica of this fish will be on display at Falcon Lake Tackle
as soon as it is finished by the Clayton's at Lake
Fork Taxidermy. Check out some of their work at lakeforktaxidermy.com.
If you catch that bass of a lifetime at Falcon or any other lake, take a
picture, measure the girth and length and have a replica made instead of killing
the fish. She will spawn 50,000 or so bass a year and spread her genes to
Falcon for years to come. When you show the fish to anyone, you will be able
to say she is still swimming around in Falcon making big babies. That will
bring you much greater admiration and respect than having to admit you killed
a magnificent miracle of Mother Nature to satisfy your ego. To the best of
our knowledge, all of the bass pictured here since 2000 have been caught In Falcon
and released back in to Falcon by true sportsmen and women.

is one of multiple big fish caught this weekend ln the Veleno. This Lewis fish
is the largest Bass caught and weighed in a tournament or at Falcon Lake
Tackle and released in 2005.Jerry refused to submit to Share Lunker for fear of
her being killed like so many of their fish.
Tom caught this
fish on Friday while prefishing Falcon for Texas Classic Bass Club Tournament
and this fish is one of the late spawners as the picture attests. She was
released back into Falcon so she could complete her spwan. Texas Classic
Bass Club has returned to Falcon for tournaments because of the good fishing. ***************************************************************************************** Both
